Robert Herbert

Robert George Wyndham Herbert (1831-1905), was the first Premier of Queensland, Australia. He was born in England, and was Private Secretary to the Governor (Sir George Bowen) of the newly created State of Queensland. After his terms of office totalling six years he returned to England. He was more of a colonial administrator than a Queenslander.
