Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

From Freepedia

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is both a scientific institution and a tourist attraction. It was originally founded in 1670 as a physic garden to grow medicinal plants. Today it occupies four sites across Scotland: Edinburgh, Dawyck, Logan and Benmore–each with its own specialist collection.

The Garden at Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Botanic Garden was originally at Holyrood, and later Leith, but has been located at the Inverleith site since 1820. It is a popular place amongst local residents, particularly young families, to go for a walk. It is referred to by locals as 'The Botanics'.

The gardens contain a range of glasshouses featuring the tallest palm house in Britain.
