Schlei

From Freepedia

The Schlei (Danish: Slien) is a firth in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. It stretches from the Baltic Sea near Kappeln and Arnis to the City of Schleswig. Along Schlei there are many little bays and swamps. The important Viking settlement of Hedeby was located at the bottom of the firth, archeologists have made extensive digs in the area, but was later abandoned in favour of the city of Schleswig. A museum has been built on the site, telling the story of the abandoned town.
