Turbots or windowpanes (family Scophthalmidae) are a group of fish found in marine or brackish waters. The taxon name comes from the Greek language, with skopein meaning "to look" and ophthalmos meaning "eye". These species are found in the North Atlantic, the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
