Zemgale (also historically known as Semigallia or Semigalia) is a historical region of Latvia and sometimes a part of Lithuania is also included. The region is named after the Baltic people of Semigallians

In Latvia, it is one of the five cutural regions and located by the middle of the Southern part of the state and consists of Bauska, Dobele, and Jelgava counties (rajons).

Sēlija (Selonia) is often considered a part of Zemgale. Selonia comprises the eastern part of the 1939 province of Semigallia, an area completely located south of Daugava. Traditional Selonia also includes a portion of north east Lithuania. It is named after the Baltic tribe of Selonians.
