The Seoul dialect is the basis of the standard dialect of Korean in South Korea. It is spoken in the Capital Metropolitan Area, which includes Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi.

The postpositions -lo "to" and -go "and" and their derivatives tend to be pronounced -lu and -gu. Notable differences in vocabulary include the use of busida to mean "to wash up", but this usage is now rare.
