Shootfighting
From Freepedia
Shootfighting is a hybrid martial art originating in Japan. It mixes elements of Western boxing, amateur wrestling, shoot-style professional wrestling, jujutsu and perhaps most importantly catch as catch can. Shooto was founded by Satoru Sayama, a catch-as-catch-can trained professional wrestler, and Pancrase and UWF were all formed by the disciples of catch experts, both Western and Japanese. It has been popular in Japan long before the UFC or PRIDE mixed martial arts organizations were founded. An example of a popular shootfighter is Ken Shamrock.
