Sigismund Francis of Austria

From Freepedia

Sigismund Francis of Austria (born November 27, 1630 in Innsbruck, died June 25, 1665 in Innsbruck) was the Regent of Tyrol from 1662 to 1665.

The second son of Leopold V and Claudia de Medici was ordained as bishop of Augsburg in 1646 without being a priest. In 1653, he became bishop of Gurk and in 1659 of Trent. After the death of his brother Ferdinand Charles, he became Regent of Tyrol. He was more able than his brother and could have made him a good ruler, but with his early death in 1665 the Tyrolean line of the Habsburg family ended. Emperor Leopold I took direct control over the government of Tyrol.
