Sir Stafford Lofthouse Sands (born 23 September 1913, Nassau – died 25 January 1972, London) was a former finance minister of The Bahamas. He helped create The Bahamas' tourism industry.
A white Bahamian economist, he was also branded a racist by many as he left the country and vowed never to return when a black majority government first came to power in 1967.
Though branded a racist by many, there is no doubt that the tourism industry in The Bahamas wouldn't be nearly as prosperous as it is.
His portrait appeared on the 10 Bahamian dollar note from 2001 until 2005, when it was replaced by that of Queen Elizabeth II.
