Sittard-Geleen is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born.

Sittard
Sittard is a city with 48,400 inhabitants. It is the home of the professional football club Fortuna Sittard. The SABIC European head office, as well as large DSM office and production facilities, are based in Sittard. Sittard was granted city rights in 1243. Sittard was a small stronghold, until a great part of it was destroyed in the 'rampjaar' 1672. It's geographical data are:

Geleen
Geleen is a town of 33,960 inhabitants. The soccer club Fortuna was the former soccer club of Geleen. Also the Rock festival Pinkpop has its roots in Geleen. This festival was held in a park where a swimming pool has been built since.

Born
Born, a town of approximately 15,000 inhabitants, has a port on the Julianakanaal (Juliana channel). Born is also the seat of the car factory Nedcar.
