Tachyeres patachonicus (Flying Steamer Duck) |
Tachyeres (Steamer Ducks) is a genus of ducks in the bird family Anatidae. All of the four species occur in South America, and all except T. patachonicus are flightless. The common name derived from the fact that the birds, when swimming fast, paddle very hard, creating a wake like a paddlewheel steamer.
