Sturt's desert pea (Swainsona formosa) is an Australian species of the genus Swainsona. The common name honours the explorer Charles Sturt; the scientific name honours the naturalist William Swainson.
The pea is the floral emblem of the state of South Australia. It was first collected by William Dampier in 1699.
