Superior
From Freepedia
Superior has various meanings.
- In a hierarchical structure of any kind, a superior is placed above a subordinate and is closer to the apex. See superior (hierarchy).
- Similarly, a person who is a "superior" has the authority to command (an)other(s), especially in a hierarchy such as the (para)military (as in "a superior officer") or holds the highest position -with varying authority- in a religious order (superior general) or part of it, see provincial superior, or just a single monastery.
- The adjective "Superior" (also used substantivated) indicates that a person, group of people or other some thing is qualitatively better or more desirable than something else, but such a trait may be assigned or perceived without reference to absolute or objective criteria.
