Systemic circulation

Systemic circulation is a circuit of circulation in the cardiovascular system. Blood circulates from the left ventricle to the organs and tissues to the systemic veins to the right atrium.
The large artery leaving the heart is the aorta. The large veins entering the heart are the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava.
During systemic circulation, the left ventricle pumps blood into the aorta. The aorta in turn sends the blood to arteries that carry it into the tissues and organs of the body. To return the deoxygenated blood to the heart, it flows through venules via capillaries and into veins to drain into the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava. Once returned to the right atrium of the heart, systemic circulation completes and pulmonary circulation begins.
