Tartuffe (Mechem)

Tartuffe is an opera in two acts by Kirke Mechem to an English libretto by the composer, based on the play of the same name by Molière. The first performance was in 1980 with the San Francisco Opera, in San Francisco, California.

This comic opera is through-composed and set in Paris in the 17th century.

Tartuffe is not part of the standard operatic repertory. A recording of it exists, and it is sometimes performed.
