Tarun Kumar Gogoi (born April 1 1936) is the Chief Minister of the state of Assam in India.
Gogoi was born on the Rangajan tea estate in the Jorhat district of Assam. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and has been chief minister of Assam since May 18 2001 a few days after he led the INC to victory in state elections.
