Tarzan Cooper

Charles "Tarzan" Cooper (August 30, 1907 in Newark, Delaware - December 19, 1980 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a pro basketball player. He is mostly known for his time with the New York Renaissance (1929-41).
After playing at Philadelphia Central high school, Cooper turned pro in 1925. After playing for the Philadelphia Panthers and Philadelphia Giants, two Independent League teams, until 1929, he joined the famous NY Rens. The 6-4 Cooper has been called the greatest center that ever played by Hall of Famer Joe Lapchick.
