Teacher-librarian

From Freepedia

A Teacher-Librarian is a professional with a baccalaureate degree and a certificate in secondary or elementary education, like any other public school teacher, but who also has at least 18 graduate hours in Library Science (focused on school librarianship) and a state certification, sometimes called a "Learning Resources Endorsement", to practice as a teacher-librarian in a public school. Some Teacher-Librarians hold the full MLS (or MLIS) degree, while others do not. Teacher-Librarians who do not have an MLS can only work in a school library setting. Librarians who have an MLS but do not have the requisite teaching credentials must obtain these teaching credentials and classroom teaching experience first before they are permitted to work as Teacher-Librarians, and often additional Library Science graduate coursework is required, focused specifically on issues pertaining to school librarianship. These are the general requirements for Teacher-Librarians in the United States.
