The House of the Scorpion is a science fiction book by Nancy Farmer.

It takes place in a future where Opium is a country formed on the US-Mexico border. The main character, Matteo Alacrán, is the clone of a powerful drug lord. He befriends the senator's daughter and goes through various adventures. In this journey, Matt will find his true family, love, and himself.

Matt, who was harvested from a cow, soon realizes that he was intended to be used as a source of organs in order to cure his patron's ailing health.
