The Prophecy

The Prophecy is a 1995 film starring Elias Koteas, Virginia Madsen, Christopher Walken (as the Archangel Gabriel), Eric Stoltz, and Viggo Mortensen as Lucifer. It was written and directed by Gregory Widen.

The film tells of a Second Angelic War in heaven, led by the Archangel Gabriel in rebellion against The Word, defended by the Archangel Michael. Gabriel is dissatisfied with God's decision to elevate humans above angels by granting them souls and takes up arms against Him.

Its four sequels to date are: The Prophecy II (1998), The Prophecy 3: The Ascent (2000), The Prophecy: Uprising (2005) and The Prophecy: Forsaken (2005). The series was produced by Neo Art & Logic.
