Thousand Islands (Indonesia)

The Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu) are a chain of islands located on Jakarta Bay. The islands are situated 45 km north of Jakarta, Indonesia. As one of the regencies of Jakarta, it has an unique ecosystem.
It consists of 106 islands with land area of 8.7 km². Approximately 20,000 people inhabit the islands.
Trade
Fishing is the main trade of the islands. However, there has been a drop in the value of the trade due to over-fishing caused by too many fishing vessels operating in the region.
Tourism
One of the islands, Bidadari Island, is a place to go for fishing or diving. The islands also hold a protected national park.
