Tony Cox (born 1958, Uniontown, Alabama died 2002, New York, New York) was an American actor.
Tony Cox was an American actor most known for his works in the Star Wars "Ewok" films. His character, Widdle Warrick, is most notably remembered as the "scientist" Ewok responsible for most of the on screen gadgets in the films. Cox, in contrast to his onscreen persona, never graduated highschool and at around the time of his suicide was tested at a 90 point IQ.
Cox spent the bulk of his life in and out of institutions diagnosed with a borderline personality and extreme schizophrenia and was hospitalized numerous times for suicide attempts prior to his death. Many people close to Cox cite a well known "curse" for his troubled life, explaining that prior to filming "Caravan of Courage: The Ewok Adventure" he was a happy motivated man with a loving wife and two children. Regardless if you belive in the "curse" or not, it is clear that something happned to Cox in the years following the 1984 film. After a house fire that nearly claimed the lives of him and his family, Cox moved his family out of Hollywood and back to his hometown of Uniontown, Alabama, and shortly afterwards left alone for New York City. What followed was a painfull freefall into the world of backalleys and halfwayhouses. Arrested in 1989 for possesion of a controlled substance, Cox made his first attempt on his life in jail, the first of a recorded 15.
Cox is survived by his Ex-Wife and two Children.
