The Torta de Aceite, with more than 100 years of tradition, is a product of a Spanish Andalusian patisserie. The Sevillian biscuit is light, crisp, and flaky. The original Torta was made in Seville, the capital of Andalusia. The main ingredients are wheat flour, extra virgin olive oil, sesame seeds, anise seeds and anise flavor. Andalusians enjoy the tortas at all times of the day: for breakfast, afternoon snack, or as a light dessert after dinner. Due its high percentage of extra virgin olive oil it is healthy alternative to other pastries. A woman named Ines Rosales found an old moorish recipe for tortas in 1910, and started her own business making and selling tortas. The business was very successful, and Ines Rosales soon expanded. Ines Rosales is now a synonym for this delicious pastry.
