White lions

From Freepedia

The white lion is found in wildlife reserves in South Africa. Regarded as divine by locals, white lions were introduced to the world in 1970, and their population has since declined sharply. Today, there are a few dozens left in the world.

The white lion's coat gives it a distinct disadvantage in nature because it is highly visible and gives them away to their prey.

There is a recessive gene in white lions that gives them their unusual color. This gene also produces white tigers. Many white tigers with this gene are bred for zoos and animal shows.
