WGC-World Cup

The WGC-World Cup is an annual men's golf tournament. In 2005 the sponsored name of the tournament is, "The Algarve World Cup in Portugal". It is contested by teams of two representing their country. Only one team is allowed from each country. The players are selected on the basis of the Official World Golf Rankings, although not all of the first choice players choose to compete.

The World Cup has existed since 1953, and was initially known as the "Canada Cup". It was incorporated into the World Golf Championships series in 2000. Like the three World Golf Championships events for individuals it is recognized by the PGA Tour and the PGA European Tour, but unlike them it is played after the end of the official season, and the prize money does not count towards the money lists. The United States has a clear lead in wins, with 23 as of 2004.

The equivalent event for women is the Women's World Cup of Golf.
