Wreckx-N-Effect
From Freepedia
Wreckx-N-Effect was a New Jack Swing Hip-Hop Duo, that had their only hit "Rump Shaker", in 1992.
The band, composed of Markell Riley, Brandon Mitchell, and Aquil Davidson, formed around 1989, and released their self-titled debut album the same year. The album was produced by producer/songwriter Teddy Riley, who was Markell's brother, and Brandon's half brother. It reached #16 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and #103 on The Billboard Top 200 chart, while its singles "Juicy" and "New Jack Swing" had a similar fate. Brandon was killed, soon after, in a shooting.
The band, then composed of only Markell and Aquail, followed up their first album with Hard Or Smooth in 1992. Hard Or Smooth fared better than the first album, reaching #6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and #9 on The Billboard Top 200 chart, and producing the hit single "Rump Shaker." Its accompanying video went on to get a lot of heat for its showing of half naked women.
Wreckx-N-Effect had then reached their peak, and after releasing a long delayed third album Rap's New Generation, in 1996, that flopped, disbanded.
