WrestleMania 22, the World Wrestling Entertainment's twenty-second annual flagship pay-per-view event, is scheduled to take place on April 2, 2006 in Rosemont, Illinois at the Allstate Arena. This is the third WrestleMania to take place in Chicago, as WrestleMania 13 and a portion of WrestleMania 2 took place there.

A promotional video which aired during Wrestlemania 21, represented the "22" as roman numerals (XXII) like previous WrestleManias. However, the final decision is to make it using cardinal numbers.

Tickets for this event sold out in under two minutes when they went on sale at 10 AM (CDT) October 15, 2005.

Expect to see matches announced early 2006. The winner of the 2006 Royal Rumble will receive either a WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania, depending on which roster (RAW or Smackdown!) that individual comes from. Also, expect Hall of Fame Inductees to be announced in late January or early to mid February.

It is also rumoured following an interview on WWE Homecoming on October 3, 2005 that Hulk Hogan is requesting a match against Stone Cold Steve Austin. At this point it is unclear whether the match will happen, as Austin is not a fan of Hogan, but he isn't interested in losing to Hogan either.

Just as in the case of WrestleMania 21 where WWE claimed that tickets for the event were sold out in less than one minute, WWE is claiming that tickets for WrestleMania 22 sold out in less than two minutes. However, these two claimes still remain to be proven since fans that were waiting in line outside the Staples Center on September 25, 2004 say that tickets for WrestleMania 21 had actually sold out in a little less than one hour.
