Encik Yusof bin Ishak (August 12, 1910 - November 23, 1970) was an eminent Singaporean politician. Born in Perak, he first served as Yang di-Pertuan Negara (head of state) between 1959 and 1965, remaining in office during the time that Singapore was part of Malaysia, between 1963 to 1965. Following Singapore's departure from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965, he served as President of the Republic until his death in 1970. His face adorns the current paper currency of Singapore that is in circulation.
